I would like to exhort you this morning to sing aloud to God and to add an amen with a volume that might jolt one of the arch angels who has joined us for worship. There is no need to scream an amen. But do aim for “pungent.” Why?

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” One sign of your thoughts being taken captive to obey Christ is robust singing and the punctuation mark of our “amens.” “Amen” means something like “truly, indeed, I agree, let it be so, Lord.” An “amen” means that you were dialed in to the words and spirit of the psalm sung. You agree with it and you want the LORD to bring His promises to pass just as He has promised in whatever we have sung.

Our weapons are not carnal but neither are they dull. So put your heart and soul into our loud songs and amens, and go ahead and put your back into it as well.
