We have come to the season where everyone is making final preparations for the starting gun. College students are limbering up. Coaches are strategizing. Mom has ordered enough shoes and school supplies that the neighbors think she’s planning the D-Day invasion. As you prepare for good works, remember the only way to be good to anyone out there is to be renewed here on Mount Zion. Everything is downstream from worship atop this New Eden. And, everything runs back upstream to worship atop this New Eden.

Worship is the engine that drives all of your good works (and that is easy enough to grasp when you’re praying in the locker room right before taking the field). But worship is also the destination where you bring all of your good works (this is more peculiar to recall right before you take the field). Whatever comes tomorrow, you come before the Living God now. You have come to the Omega and the Alpha, the last and first. You have come to the One who serves no other end for “from Him, through Him, and to Him are all things.” Where does this leave for you to do? It leaves you to give Him glory.
