You’ll remember that we ride for Jerusalem, and the point of these daily exhortations is that you would do so in the style of your King: “And it came to pass, when the time had come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). Notice that when the time had come that he should be received up, He did not stand around with his face skyward. He was going up to the heavens by means of a set chin and feet marching on the horizontal axis.
Christ has now “passed into the heavens” as our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14). And because of Him, Paul tells us to “come boldly unto the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16). But I might add that you should go boldly from the throne of grace as well. When you have offered your gift at the altar, don’t leave your boldness back there in the sanctuary. Your boldness has not left you; why would you abandon it? If you can walk into the dwelling place of Consuming Fire with your head up and shoulders back, surely you can do the same in any earthly dwelling.
