This bread is courage and this wine is zeal. The remarkable truth is that both are offered to you that you might partake of them. This is not so much a table for the brave as it is a table for cowards low enough to attend it. Jesus is the only one who didn’t run the night this table was first attended. And He is the only one who doesn’t run today. You have no doubt done courageous things and you have done mighty works in His name. But what do you have that you didn’t receive?

You know this is comforting to you today. For you face unforseen challenges. You face bigger problems. So, go face them in the same strength that you faced all of the problems you had in the past, which were too big for you back then as they are today. Go face them in the courage of another. There is more courage in Christ than there is fear in you. And there is more zeal in Christ than there is apathy in your own chest. So fast yourselves on your own food and take the heavenly manna, the bread the world knows nothing of. Come in faith and welcome to Jesus Christ.
