Baptism is a sign that we have been brought into the church. And it is no lying sign. The baptized have been brought out of the domain of darkness and into the world of light, out of the realm of weeping and gnashing of teeth and into God’s music hall. God does not bring our children into His house of light so that they would not see, or into His music hall so they would not hear. He has promised them sight, and ears to hear, as He has promised the same to all of us. He has promised all of this and the only way to receive the promise is to look to Christ, to listen for His voice.
