As our Father gave Adam his wife, Eve, so has He given our Lord Jesus Christ His bride, the church. Baptism is a sign and seal that the baptized has been added to the one body of Christ, which comes down out of heaven as a bride adorned for her husband. The God who gives this sign to his bride will be faithful to His covenant promise to her. And that covenant promise is the forgiveness of sins, life forevermore, world without end, and amen.
